HPA DSG upgrade - interested?
« on: January 31, 2009, 01:06:51 am »
Okay, I've been in touch with HPA and they would be willing to fly over to do the upgrade to the DSG software for anyone who wants it. It is in the early stages at the moment, but if there is enough interest we could well have an absolute corker of a chance to sort our cars out to the way the DSG should have been from the start.

As of yet I have no prices either (as I said - early stages) but if anyone is REALLY interested add your name to the list and put down what stage you are most interested in.

USA prices were---(Stage 1 $699, Stage 2 $899, Stage 3 $1995)

Below is a link to VWVortex, so you can remind yourselves of the options.

Up late?

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Hmmm... that Stage 3R looks a bit suspect to me - no mechanical upgrade and vastly increased torque threshold?   :scared:  I've spoken to VWR and Revo and both are working on similar software... I'd rather wait and get it done by a local tuner who I could go back to if there were any issues.  JD Engineering in Holland also have their own DSG software available and are a lot closer should anything go wrong.

But having said all that, I reckon lots of people should take this offer up so that I can see if its safe for my box

HPA are the DSG daddies.

It will only be a matter of time until 'others' release SW but will it be a revised 'read' of the HPA stuff or some experimental SW.

You read my mind top cat, will definately be interested in either stage 2/3 depending on costs, but this whole increase launch control to 5500 rpm + I had trouble putting the power down at 2500 rpm  :ashamed:

The rev limit & torque increase along with proper manual mode sounds very good though! As plan to have twintercooler and hpfp fitted soon.  :happy2:

....

HPA might be the "DSG daddies" but, like illyun, I much prefer to go 'locally' to VWR because I know how they develop things and I know I'll get full support which is second-to-none. They won't make it available until they are totally happy with it.

I'll be interested in what Revo have to offer too.

Some interesting launch vids here -

http://www.hpamotorsports.com/dsg.htm

I notice Regal now offer the service to UK customers which might be a better option -

Quote
Regal DSG Transmission Software

Our DSG software is brand new to the market. Offering the following advantages

* Raised Rev limits in excess of 7000RPM
* Shorter reaction time on Manual shifts
* Two stage throttle sensitivity for differentiation between hard throttle use and Full throttle.

Future development will also see the introduction of enhanced launch control and, for those running big power turbo turbo kits, single gear kickdown (as opposed to the factory 2) to allow the car to come on boost as the lower gear is selected and higher torque limits.

The "winter" and "education" datasets are left alone, so the DSG's ECU will function as normal, no detrimental effects, just improved performance in the areas where it counts!

DSG Transmission Software Retail Price £450 VAGOC member price - £395

The DSG software is the real break through. Flashed through the diagnostic port this is completely un-intrusive mapping of the DSG ECU.
