Golf Gti questions
« on: August 11, 2010, 09:04:19 pm »
hi guys im thinking of getting a golf gti but i have a few questions

At present i own a fiesta st great car and was looking to upgrade to a focus st but i love fords but the interior trim rattle i get from the fiesta puts me off getting a focus may not experience this with a focus dont know  and they have a few other issues like any car i guess. Just fancy a different make

1. Do golfs tend to rattle my mum has the mk5 tdi and it seems miles better for rattles than my fiesta the build quality looks way better tbh.

2.Ive seen mk5 on here with r32 rear exhaust i would want to do the same it looks the dogs danglies lol do you need a r32 bumper to do this or can you get some sort of lower valance that fits the the gti bumper also average cost of this?

3. Id like to also attend some trackdays whats the mk5 like on track.

Thanks for your time
Tom :happy2:

There are a few known rattles but they're relatively easy fixes. Personally, not had any rattles other than from stuff kept in boot/door pockets.

You need R32 exhaust + rear lower bumper which I believe comes with the valance.

Quite a few members have modified their golf gti cars for track use. So I guess but could be improved.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

The Mk 5 is also known for more than its fair share of rattles. In regards to the R32 exhaust set-up. You need a R32 style back box, a actual one from a R32 wont fit a GTI, then as said above you need a R32 back bumper or a modified GTI lower section.  :happy2:

The Mk5 does very well on track if you upgrade the brakes, the chasis on the Mk5 is very good indeed.  :happy2:

There are a couple of people that do plastic welding on here, that is the only real way of modifying the stock GTI lower section, though i think there is a German company that sell them. In my opinion the R32 one looks a lot better though.

Couple of mine.  :happy2:

I think alot of people would agree that vw are a lot better build quality than fords.

my 08 golf has no rattles really, very good finish and feel to the interior.

you pay more for a vw but get alot more quality

thats just my opinion
