Holy moly! Sounds defo like a brown trouser moment. I came quite close when my car cut out whilst turning left for first exit at a roundabout.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Surely the point is which car suits your lifestyle best. A Cayman S or TT-RS is useless if you occasionally need 4 seats or to transport a 7ft pole or a 6'x2' piece of fence as I did yesterday.

Ah Tom, don't seem to have the best luck with Audi's eh fella?

With £30k to spend I think I'd get an Audi every time.
With that kind of money I think I'd get a black A5 3.0TDI Quattro S-Line, then put a map and a milltek on it. Job done.

Not lightning quick or as fast as stuff you're probably looking at, but an excellent all rounder in my eyes

My money would be on an ED30 and spend a few K on mods and bank the rest. Still have a mint motor that will have lost its big chunk of value and very slowly depreciate...

BMW 1 series engine is very attractive though. Just looks a little small and thin inside.

Id go with a 2nd hand 09 plate A4 3.0tdi with a touch of revo and would have plenty of room and good for the mileage you do and wait till the RS3 or the new BMW 335i/135i/1M come out and see what you think of them.

Or maybe a 2nd hand S4 3.0 not sure you can pick them up for 30k though.

Bonjour! My Wife and I were just saying earlier that this time last year we were sat outside a lovely restaurant in Chamonix baking in 30 degree heat.

For that money, I'd deffo be going for a 335i coupe  :happy2:

Every time I drive my 330i I realise I made the right choice. It's just so much nicer to drive than anything else I have driven and even though there are faster cars for the money, I haven't found a 'better' one yet.

I'm sure plenty will disagree with me though
