needed some stone chips touching up also.
Jay, have you thought about teaming up with a bodyshop?

Autobright Very Cherry acid-free wheel cleaner was used.
Sounds stronger than Bilberry but how do you find it compared to Megs Wheel Brightener?

Once all the wheels were done, the grills, shuts, engine bay, vents etc were all taken care of with degreaser.
I really want to know this: how do you remove the degreaser? Especially engine bay/vents? Bit worried about ruining things.

Next up was localised usage of Iron cut, to remove iron filings etc. They were wiped down with IPA then touched up.
I've read about iron cut on DW. Still unsure about whether I should bother buying some or not.

Have to say the interior would be ripped out straight away, that to me is hideous.
+1. Never would have gone for that option.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Bodyshop..... Nope. I did the work myself meaning no third party company to pay. For the work to be any better than what I can do, it would have to go into another workshop.  Plus it's all extra time is without car if the car goes somewhere else.

Very cherry.....It is quite a but better than bilberry but not too far off wheel brighteners capabilities. I'm sure it will still be quite aggressive even though its acid free.

Engine bay.... Covering delicate items then rinsing. Experience helps to spot intake manifolds/fuse boxes/alternators.

Iron cut.... It's not as safe as everyone thinks. There are cases of it stripping smart repairs/ brake calipers. It provokes an exothermic reaction which makes the paint swell. It's like anything I guess, safe in the right hands.

I don't know if you've seen an r8 with black seats. They are a bit bland. You can't say that about the red.

I do like the seats but not a fan of the wheel

Great work (as usual) Jay  :happy2: Like you say, the steering wheel is a bit marmite (different though I suppose)..
One thing I have spotted though... V8 engine, V10 pipes

And ben, yep, the pipes were swapped in favour of the v10 ones. Good choice in my book ;)
