Oh my!  :notworthy:

I remember when we started the forum somebody posted a link up to these wheels in the land of the rising sun, there were lots of colour variants as well.

Need thousands of pics of these on your car.

Thanks guys. I had these fitted today, but I'm not sure when I'm going to get a chance to take some pics. It's been raining, and the car is a mess.  :sad1:

Strangely, the wheels are immaculately clean. They look so out of place. I'll give it a wash and sort something out. Unfortunately my Oettinger bumper and grill is temporarily off too (stock one on for the interim), so I'll see what I can do. Would rather hold off till it's all back together as I'd intended it.

Really liking how they look though. Love the extremely concave centre area. Looks great at an angle. Will update soon.

I had to look up what that meant!

I got these via a company called Import Monster. They are an Australian based importer of JDM type stuff. They ship things from Japan to Australia mostly, but I'm pretty sure they do ship things worldwide. The site translates the Japanese into 'Engrish'. It's enough to get by on for the most part, but it can be difficult to understand.

This set was a bit of a one-off as they were used in a photoshoot for a Japanese magazine called af imp http://autofashion.com/imp/. After the shoot, they put them up for auction of Yahoo Japan. I was searching high and low and got lucky with my timing I guess. I haven't seen another set on there since. Cost me AUD$1100 less that what I was later quoted by another importer. Although they were brand new and would have been EMS'd instead of shipped. It was a hell of a wait, but worth that kind of money.

My only guess would be to speak with a local JDM type importer. They could probably line something up with Newing/Alpil.

LOL. The shipping would be worth more than the wheels themselves. Except for the fact I had them powder coated to look like the MK6 Detroits. You can pick up similar sets to my old reps on German ebay. Shipping to the UK would be a hell of a lot less too. Worth noting that they were a relatively soft wheel. You get what you pay for I guess.

That said, they easily cleared my Brembo GT 355 brake kit.

The W12's needed a 5mm spacer and it's a right pain trying to find conical 14 x 1.5 32mm security lug bolts. I'm now contemplating machining 3mm off some 35mm security lugs I have which match my 28mm rears. Not heard of it being done before myself, but I'd prefer not find my 2 front wheels replaced with bricks. Anybody know if that's safe? I'm reluctant to run 28mm bolts with 5mm spacers for obvious reasons. Even thought they are quality bolts.

I'm trying to reserve judgment until i see more pics but I think they may be the nicest wheels I've ever seen on the mk5.

More pics please

Immense looking wheels, I don't think I have or ever will see a better rim on a MK5. Right up my street that!!  :notworthy: :notworthy:
