Next let's get rid of speed cameras, and stupid pimply faced policemen who find it easier to pick on your average motorist going about their daily duties rather than doing real police work like stopping burglars, drug dealers and violent and abusive thugs.

I can't drive into town without seeing at least one motorist pulled at the side of the road for something these days. They must be pumping up their pension pot just now.  :fighting:

Much easier to stop cars, vans and lorries to see if they are using chip fat and red diesel.....

About time they got rid of what is essentially extortion!

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/4/20100817/tuk-clampers-banned-from-private-land-dba1618.html

I'm afraid I disagree.

What  they needed to do was introduce some regulation but they've taken a cop out option.

Where I live we have a huge problem with residents parking inconsiderately, it's not that they don't have an allocated parking space it's simply that they prefer to park on the road (often dangerously) to be 10 seconds closer to their front door.

We implemented a clamping scheme as a trial and it worked very well, with the only people complaining being those that were bending the rules.

It's quite clearly detailed and explained in everyones deeds about where you can and can't park as well as what you can't park (Vans, Caravans, Boats etc) which is all for the greater good of everyone but without clamping pretty much un-enforcable.

^^^Its the few rotten apples that spoil the otherwise untarnished barrel eh? (just like the traffic police who act like God (shooting fish in a barrel).  I guess there wont be any jobs left for bouncers/ loan sharks/ money collectors once these clamping companies go to the wall.....

FYI We got rid of clamping in Scotland years ago...any issues that it has caused have not been made public. Of course if could be that these stories are not newsworthy.......
