Shaun I was all set to fit cruise to DaveB's Roc but once I had taken it all apart I was gobsmacked that VW had changed it totally??? The slip ring now contains all the steering wheel controller  and the stalks are all one item.

There is no retro kit at the moment BUT I would say has you have DSG you may be lucky and have the right controller and all you will need is the right set of stalks,  If you have VCDS and can get the steering controller part number for me I can get you the right stalk part number...

Cheers

Guys ive been reading through a few threads on CC and got myself confused, iv found a few CC stalks on ebay and PH at circa £30 which isnt bad and my local stealers will fit and code for me but before i buy the stalk i want to be sure im getting the right part, i have a 55 plate DSG. Will this mean i need a specific stalk with the "wire"?

For your car most of the stalks are the same, all bar the logo on the end changing.  Be wary of eBay etc as there is a batch of stalks which were faulty.  They were fitted mainly to new cars a while ago but they do surface as they are changed in dealerships under warranty and then 'moved' on.

I'd pay the extra and get one from a dealer which will be a warranted part, especially if you are paying someone to install it.

As for the wire, you probably wouldn't know until it comes to fitting so best to try and get one to have handy.

I've got a CC stalk from a 2005 DSG for sale if you are interested. I took it from my car (well, Ben from Shark did!)so I know it works. I am putting it in the "For Sale " section and on ebay tonight together with a MFD2 satnav and my old steering wheel.
PM me for more info.
