Would you say you noticed the car was 'off' before you changed it? Did still pull strongly / ie you could feel the turbo kicking in?

A faint hissing when you accelerate and certainly no grunt. Is it easy to check the DV valve, where is it and how much is a new one? Mines is also an 05.
might be a daft question but i have a 57 plate done 22k. would that have the new version or should i get it changed as a precaution???
