Air Filter suggestions please?
« on: August 19, 2010, 11:16:33 pm »
I just wondered if there were any air filters out there that are better than stock ones. Panel filters I mean  I don't want to go full intake yet, so I wondered what my options were.

I am sure I have seen an ITG panel filter and a green sort of filter. Are these any good? Will they make any difference?

Also, I did think about the Carbonio set-up. Its not a full-on intake, and I can still use the engine cover. Is that right?

I guess all I am after is letting the car breathe a bit better, without going mad  :happy2:

Any suggestions/recommendations?

Thanks

Pah! you know there are no companies who have managed to improve on VW's design for this part.  Just because something can be changed doesn't always mean it can be bettered.  :happy2:

What about the Carbonio vs Stock Panel filter? Is it purely an aesthetics thing?

It seems to be from what i have read on here over the years, Robin had one for a while and didn't notice or feel any conservable gains. The cost could defo be utilised better elsewhere.

Im with the others on the 'no performance gain' but what you could assume is a pipercross panel filter will be £30 and last a few services before it needs a clean (even then it's just a case of washing it!)

A stock one would be changed every, say 8-10k.
