I use a sewing needle to get them off.

They are self adhesive mate 

They ain't - I've got a brand new genuine item - and there is no kind of adhesive on it.

There is some kind of clear film on the key - though that aint adhesive either!

The VW ones I replaced recently had a little peel off on the back and so did my old .:R ones come to think of it. Just whipped it off and stuck it down job done

Did mine this morning.

Took about 20 seconds (including pealing the backing off the new badge). I used a house key to push the old one off - worked a treat!

Excellent how-to 

Now I'm looking at replacing the button pads on one of my keys as it looks so tired - has anybody done that? It says on ebay they just push in and out.....
