Need a computer expert
« on: August 26, 2010, 11:10:50 pm »
I cant get to my emails anymore. Not on either of my PC,s or the laptop or the phone. The internet is working fine but I get this message when I hit the mail button.

The host 'pop.freeserve.co.uk' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: 'pop.freeserve.co.uk', Server: 'pop.freeserve.co.uk', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11004, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

It was fine last night but this evening nothing?

Just wondered before I contact my provider if anyone could throw some light on the affair.

TIA  Gulf

Hi

It's a problem with Orange - not for the first time!

http://www.orangeproblems.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=7466&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

You might have some joy if you change your pop server to pop.orangehome.co.uk and your smtp to smtp.orangehome.co.uk.  There is a note hidden away on Orange's website saying some users are experiencing data access problems and a 3rd party is looking into it!

I'm not with Orange myself, but it is definitely them causing your problem!  Access to email via their website seems to be working this morning, whereas last night even that was dodgy!

If the above doesn't work, it's just a case of waiting... and waiting.. and waiting..  I wouldn't bother trying to contact Orange as it probably won't be of any use.

HTH.  :happy2:

I agree - problem is server end, not client side.
Contact them for an update, and then just wait for them to fix things!
