Electric Folding Mirrors Owners.....
« on: August 27, 2010, 07:45:33 pm »
Hi all,

For those who have Folding Mirrors, Could you tell me when you put the car in reverse does your passenger side mirror dip down to give you kurb side view?

Only reason i ask is that i've just been out in my cousins MK5 R32 and his passenger side mirror dips down when in reverse.
I used too have this on my BMW but on my GTI it doesn't dip down.

Was this just an R32 option?

This option was available on MY07 and later if you had the rear sensor option and/or the luxury pack.

Hi GTi SUNNY,

I've got this option on my GTi and it's a 55 plate, you can turn it on via the settings in the highline display. But to be honest it's a bit of a gimmick, cause if youve got ur mirror set right in the first place you can see behind and below when you need to anyway.

So I have turned it off.

Hope that helps. :happy2:

Hi mate,

Thanks for the reply,

Mine is also a 55plate with Folding Mirrors but i have Midline Display, at the moment when i reverse i dip the mirror myself but when i always have to put it back to my driving position but cant always get it perfect, so thought it would be hassle free if it went back to it's memory position itself.

I've been in contact with a company for a Highline Display so maybe it'll be worth it

Unfortunately your MY05 car doesn't come with dipping passenger mirror even with the lux pack and/or reversing sensors. Also you can't easily or economically retrofit it.

It's a gimmick for me, dads Range Rover does it and it's pointless. As said, your mirror will be adjusted properly or just poke your neck up a bit .

I guess it could impress people though

Folding mirrors with Kurb side dipping mirror and puddle lights on his R32

'Mirror Dip' was an 08 MY IIRC change and is a hardware not a software fix - so not cost effective. HTH
