Stolen number plate
« on: August 28, 2010, 05:04:34 pm »
So some little fu*king b@astards stole my number plate when i was at work today, it was forced off because you can see the marks where someone has forced something behind it! Waiting for the police to get back to me incase someone is using it! Not impressed!!

Oh no!! :fighting:, had this done aswell a while ago, the G!ts then went to london in the conjestion zone and clocked up a nice little bill for me.

Or they are using it to do a drive off at the petrol station without paying, thats the usual reasons for obvious plate theft.

Horrible news. Do you need to inform the DVLA too?
Hope it gets sorted quickly.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Sorry to hear that Tara.  There really are some utterly selfish scumbags out there.  I hope it's just idiots messing about (although it's more like criminal damage) as opposed to someone intending to clone a car with your plates or someuts.  Did the Polizei say if there had been any more number plate thefts in the area or is it just a one off?

Tara, might be worth phoning your local petrol stations about this happening so they can catch the stroats if they try it, and get them on CCTV

No need.
If it's been reported to police then it goes on the PNC record. If anyone does do a bilking with it then when the petrol station quotes the reg the police will check it on the system which shows it as stolen.

Yeah ive already told the police, it happened at work though and you have to go along a private drive to get to the car park and we werent even open for matchs today so it must have been someone that knew it was going to be there because i was parked right by the front of the building and there were a few other cars in the car park closer to the exit which would have been easier to take the number plate. I will be able to see who took it on CCTV tomorrow when the person that controls it is in work.

just hope that they will not cause extra damage and move on to another car.

Hi Tara,
Just a suggestion, as I've not really thought it through (early on a Sunday morning :indifferent:). But if you were to buy a cheap private plate from the DVLA then you would probably save yourself the hassle of being pulled over, and being messed about at the petrol pump.

Also it would be instantly obvious to the police or anyone else that see's your old number plate that they are possibly the little gits who are trying to get away with something.

I know it will mean you have to spend a little money, (which you shouldn't have to!) But it might save you some hassle :signLOL:

There are were ? some plates you could have made that if anyone tried to rip them off they just broke in to pieces. Don't know if you can still get them tho ?.

....AFAIK they are still available. They're stuck on and rip apart when some scumbag tries to remove them. The only concern (a big concern) is what happens to the surface they're stuck too. Ooops! there goes the lacquered surface of my expensive carbon, or that's torn my whole vinyl wrap panel, let alone paintwork. Does anyone know more detail about potential body damage?
