R-Tech for remap? << Just got Revo'ed!
« on: August 31, 2010, 11:37:17 pm »
Just wondering if anybody on here has used R-Tech (Hinckley) for a remap before?

I'm maybe going to take my car there for a Revo remap but just wanted to hear about people's views/ experiences with them before deciding to go up there...

Thanks.

I havn't used them but heard only good things about them. I am actually trying to get through to them myself regarding remap. They do Revo too so should be able to advise accordingly as to which remap would suit the individual best. I'll update when I have spoken to them  :happy2:

I don't have a problem with R-Tech Mandy.

I'm just a little confused why you would want to drive all that way when you could get the same product just down the road in Portsmouth.

Last time I looked (which was a while ago admittedly) R-tech were offerring great deals, maybe "portsmouth" doesn't offer a price match

I went to stoke (from Glos) to get work done on my car (not a map admittedly) because the price was stonking and the service was very highly recommended (and when I had the work done the service matched, if not exceeded the high recommendations I had been given)

Thanks guys.  :happy2:

So some good things said about them already, that's a reassuring start!

I have been given the chance (if all goes to plan) to have a stage 1 Revo remap at a very good price, but the catch is, I can only have it done at R-Tech.

I know it's a little bit of a travel, but I think it would be worth it.  :pomppomp:

Just looked on their website and noticed their Milltek prices seem quite competitive too.

If people were to declare a remap to their insurance how much extra does it push up your insurance?

I'm guessing it would depend on several factors eg. level of power gain, your age, past driving experience etc.

Different insurance companies will see it in different ways, some won't mind it too much, others may not like it!

I'm with Greenlight and to go stage 1 it would cost me around £100 extra IIRC. (I'm 25, 4yrs NCB).

....I gotta take you up on this: There should be no use of the word "IF" regarding whether to declare to your insurer. Not declaring could potentially make your whole insurance null and void which could then lead to a personal prosecution and claims for huge damages if a serious injury is involved etc etc etc. It's simply not worth risking not declaring your mods.

@ Mandy:

I realise it may be a question of money, and I've heard nothing bad about R-Tech, but JKM in Portsmouth are extremely knowledgeable and particularly expert at all things 2.0T FSI/TSI engine related and in the long term I suggest it would be better to go to someone who will get to know all about your individual car all up close and personal, regularly, and not just about the remap. Plus they are local to you. They're 2hrs drive from me but I don't hesitate.

It's your call of course  :happy2:

Thanks for your advice Robin, I have no doubt at all that JKM are brilliant but it's a shame they are not doing any special offers at the moment  :sad1: For the price I maybe able to get Revo for, it's an offer I simply can't refuse! I'll be kicking myself if I don't take it up!

Just waiting for Nick (R-Tech) to give me a call back...  :popcornsoda:
