new headunit advice

been lookin about for a headunit preferably double din. Just wondering what aftermarket headunits yous have fitted and if possible a pic of the headunit so i can get a rough idea what they look like fitted.

i've got an avic f900, takes 30 annoying seconds to boot up but epic once running, and suits the dash plastics, the visuals are all adjustable with infinate colours so its easy to match the dials up too



dvd etc, nav, flash, itouch, handsfree voice dialling etc

are you only after an aftermarket HU?

you should consider the RNS-510. I was traditionally not a fan of OEM head units, but in my opinion this one steals the show. its not just a pretty picture either, the functionality is far superior to any i have used before. add that to its fantastic interface, you have a winner

works quite well and blends in when off.
but only thing is the nav/phone kit thingy addon is about £300!

RNS-510 all the way. It's easily the best satnav/media player I've found in a car, beating Mercedes COMAND and Audi MMI.

I have to admit, I've been looking long and hard at the Avic 900 or 700.
I'm pretty convinced this is what I'm putting into my GTi (when I get it - shame VW can't find me one!!)

I'm shocked about the bootup time.

The fascia - is this included with the Avic?
My understanding is that the only differences between the 8700 and 900 is the DVD and high-power outputs (not an issue as I'm going to amp externally anyway)

Was it easy to install?

My AVIC-900 is being installed tomorrow lucky for me I sell Pioneer home kit and a hell of a lot of it so got it VERY cheap 

Will let you know tomorrow what its like and how long it takes to boot up. If its anything like there Blu-Ray players then 30Sec would be the norm.
