I found my Cat having another hard day in the middle of his hectic life.

....Lovely natural lighting - Always tricky to capture extremes of both light and dark on camera.

Cat looks exhausted after being shagged to death by Monkey (again).

Pmsl at rr!  All the peace and tranquility of the photo destroyed by that mental imagery!

....Auto mode is a good way to become more familiar with how your DSLR feels and handles at first. Modern cameras seem to have zillions of settings and the trick is to analyse your efforts after uploading to see your settings data and learn from what worked well and what didn't.

Starting off with Auto modes also gives you confidence and stops you from thinking that you have just spent hundreds or thousands of pounds on something you are rubbish at!

The bottom line though, is do you 'have the eye'? Some guys do, TopCat for example, and others have a more scientific and unemotional approach, which personally I don't much like, but all that matters is what YOU like.

^ My first ever photo on my new DSLR + zoom lens last Saturday.

I have to rather immodestly say that I'm pleased with it. The camera enabled me to capture exactly what I saw and wanted to later share. No cropping or post-processing.

That pic is really nice Robin full of atmosphere. Even the expression on the chaps face adds to the picture. Please keep posting all your pictures if this is what you can do with a proper camera.  :happy2:
