3 year service plan question...
« on: September 07, 2010, 04:47:08 pm »
I have a 3 year service plan on my car paid for when purchased new, and upon booking the car in for its 2nd service I have been told that the plan does not cover the recommended brake fluid change and air con service.

I assume this is right, as these are only recommended service items? I cannot find the terms/conditions on the website.

Dealer is charging £50 + VAT for the brake fluid change, and £75 + VAT for the air con service.

Dealer is also charging for the courtesy car required while warranty work is being completed – customer services advised that there is no requirement for the dealer to provide a car for warranty work, so they are free to charge what they wish…..

Cheers!

Have you tried another dealer?

Generally you are correct in that the brake fluid change and air con service are recomendations so they are not covered by the servicing plan which only covers the basic servicing items.

Yup some dealers will charge you for a courtesy car some wont its all down to each dealer. They will only supply you with a car if your car is recovered in by roadside assistance :happy2:

Thanks for the replies - tried the two closest dealers and both charge for a car.

I'll go for the brake fluid change and think about the A/C!

Cheers!

depends what kind of servicing plan you're on.

Mine covers just about everything!!  But then you do pay for it.

You can sort of service the AirCon yourself. You just wont be able to actually drain the coolant to replace with new coolant. But you can buy an AirCon cleaner from halfrauds along with a bottle of refrigerant and get a new Pollen filter. Follow the instructions on everything starting with the Aircon Cleaner and all is hunky dory.

I've done mine on the vRS :happy2:

Some dealers are doing both Brake Fluid and Air Con work for £99 all in.. :happy2:

What neck of the woods are you located in?
Cheers,

Called another dealer to be told the only recommended additional item is the pollen filter. A/C recharge was not recommended at Y2, and they say that VW recently revised the first brake fluid change from two years to three years.....
