Ipod dock inserts
« on: February 03, 2009, 10:32:40 pm »
I have the ipod dock in the armrest but when I got the car it didn't come with any of the insert bits for different size ipods.  My nano keeps jumping out of the socket - unsurprisingly - and I finally got round to calling the dealer to order some replacements.  The goon in the parts dept told me that VW have stopped supplying these as they change so often.  He said I would have to order them from apple.

Now I know that apple sell inserts for what they call a universal dock.  Is the dock in the golf classed as a universal dock or is he speaking sh*te?  Anyone ordered these and how did you go about it?

i dont know if its true however i have the same feature on my s3 and they are crap, i wouls suggest getting a piece of foam and cutting it to fit so the ipod sits/fits tightly into it. With the std inserts my ipod used to come out with this it never has.

Might end up doing just that.  It seems to be vertical movement thats the trouble which i don't think the inserts would really address...

I think the sales guy was fobbing you off as the Apple inserts are ones that fit docking cradles and not the VW dock. The ones for the VW are varying width pieces of plastic and basically just wedge the iPOD into place. Don't work very well either....a bit like the iPOD VW function
Golf R gone.
