MK5 audio questions........
« on: February 05, 2009, 03:46:09 pm »
Hello,

Just looking at the potential upgrade path for when I get my Mk5 GTi. I haven't got it yet, as the audio aspect is as important to me as the car.

I've got a couple of questions really -

1. The various upgrade packs supplied by VW - are they any good?
2. Who makes them for VW - is it still Blaupunkt?
3. Is there a Bose pack for the Golf?
4. I heard rumour of a Dynaudio pack - is this true?
5. For Qs 3 &4 what are the spces for these systems (if available!)
6. By all accounts the standard system is woeful at best. Is it down to the Head Unit or speakers, or both?
7. Head Units - a minefield! LOL!! Is it worth going for a car with the MDF2 (realistically I'm looking at an 05/55 plate) or go for the RCD300 (or ideally 500)

I don't need the Ipod pack because from what I've read, it's rubbishly implemented!!LOL! Besides, I've got an Ipod Touch, so just need input smiley2

I've currently got an Audi S4 with the Bose system, and I love it. Whilst not the most accurate, it makes the listening side of my driving highly enjoyable!! (The Bi-Turbo engine does the rest wink )

Any input would be fantastic!!! smiley2

personally if you into music and want a good system, dont spend VW money. buy your own speakers and head unit.
any alpine headunit will be great! they are known for their sound quality...

p.s. i also have a ISO (standard) to VW wiring adaptor. (in for sale bits)

SOLD!! :(

Rainbow do a kit for the mk5 which means you don't need to use baffels etc.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.
