Starting now on BBC2 - Ace dramatisation of Battle of Britain - Excellent reviews!

Gosh!! Brian Kingcome is portrayed - I knew him well, a client for several years.

This programme was a clever mix of narration by the actual pilot Geoff Wellum with actors filmed in the true story of 92nd Squadron in the 1940's. Brian Kingcome was the Sqdn Leader and as I knew him quite well I must admit I found the programme very emotional. He passed on in 1994. He wrote a book but I have yet to read it.

As Geoff Wellum said while now in old age, he still can't quite work out if it was all worth it. As anyone in active service in a war zone knows, losing your friends like that is something you never forget.

Looks like there's some really good stuff coming up:

I was fortunate enough to have a VIP, behind the scenes guided tour of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight at RAF Coningsby in May.  I went with my brother-in-law and his grandfather who was a rear gunner in Lancasters of 149 Squadron.  Absolutely fascinating day out and to share it with a real veteran was a privilege.
