Boot Open Button on Keyfob
« on: September 14, 2010, 11:56:48 am »
Hi All,

I've only just realised that on both my keys the 'Boot Open Button' doesnt do anything

NOW

when i had my R32 i cant remember if it was the same with them keyfobs but i did have something done via VAG.COM which enabled the boot to pass it's 2nd lock

So do i need to do the same on the GTI or are my keyfobs knackered and need to have new ones from VW?

any help appreciated

Sunny

when you press and hold the boot button, the boot doesn't unlock? it still requires you to use the badge to open the boot.

If you want the boot to "pop" open then yes you will need vagcom

I've been led to believe that you need some skoda and scirocco parts to do the boot pop mod,
Didn't know it can be done with just the button alone.

You need to hold the button down for a good 3 seconds or thereabouts and the indicators should flash to signal you can open the boot.  Are you sure you are holding it down long enough?  You wouldn't be the first not to (me included) ...

to make to boot full open yes you need other parts, but as far as im aware you can make the boot pop open enough (an inch) so you can pull the boot open yourself rather and using the badge.

Ive seen the boot pop open fully using a valve spring out of a Transit van engine in the gas strut.

Think it could have been on a guy called NotNormal's car, will have a ratch about.......
