I don't agree. FR has a K03, Cupra has a K04...
So it's like buying a GTi or an ED30. Big differance.
Plus you can get the K1 Cupra which looks amazing.

I know it's not the same but I had a Leon Cupra R and didn't consider buying the standard Cupra because of the extra power and extra kit as standard.

You get a lot more for your money with a Seat.

Like windows that are wet on the inside after it rains.............
Like a DPF that doesn't last more than 5K miles (90 mile commute to work Somerset to Portsmouth)
Like a Dash that was designed by a Nursery School.
Like an even worse customer service than VW
Like a Diesel that really sounded like a Tractor.

Been there, done that, apart from the above, I enjoyed my Leon FR Tdi 170 (xenons, sunroof, bluetooth, 18's, etc for 18K), I wanted to like the car, but the above problems overcame that, and I sold and bought a Golf.

Which Cupra are we talking about? Mk1 or mk2?

Mk1 was based on the golf mk4, same chassis. Cupra had the mk4 gti engine and Cupra r had S3/TT engine so they didn't tune up to the same.

Sounds like you had a lot of bad luck. Better check the car out properly next time  :happy2:

the mk2 cupra and cupra R. same engine, same chassis, different ecu settings and a shed load more cash.  buy a cupra, fit a diff, remap it and it'll be a muc better car than the cupra R with a remap

Makes sense now. I was taking about the MK1. Nevertheless, I'd still have the K1 if I was looking to buy a Cupra.

i keep finding myself looking at cupras.  loads of 56-57 plates going for 8k.  that would leave me a tidy 3k for mods.

but then i remember the interior and change my mind, but then..................

I have no idea!  :signLOL:

Still, I'm pretty sure FR has same engine as standard mk5 GTI and Cupra has same engine as S3/ED30?
If that's right, they can't tune up to the same?

I love the K1. I always stare when I see a white one go by

think you are confused about these engines

the ed30, pirelli, cupra, cupra r, scirocco R and S3 share the same k04 TFSI with different settings.  all tune to the same output.  the only difference is  the S3 has the uprated intercooler( which id guess the scircoco R and cupra R have as well) but this is only a £300 modification

Reference the cupra K1, it is mechanically identical to the cupra in every way apart from the body kit which seat UK chose to fit to some and charge an excessive surcharge for.  so wgen someone says their K1, think cupra with a body kit.

the leon FR, vRS, GTI, A3 all have the same k03 TFSI engine but are the same power and make the same power when mapped.

Not confused about the engines mate. I already know everything you stated in the previous post.
I just had no idea there was a 'Cupra R' in the mk2 range. Thought it was just FR and Cupra with K1 being the limited edition model?

Oh and 8k for a 56-57 plate? Bargain! I'm sure you could do something with the interior
