Cheap way to add iPod?
« on: September 15, 2010, 10:43:55 am »
Hi folks

Just wondering is there a way to add a cable to the existing cd player so I can use my iPod? I think it's called an aux cable?

It's a stock cd player from an 05 plate. I'm a tight arse so don't really want to pay £100 for the Vw cable  :rolleye:

Any help would be much appreciated  :happy2:

I'd like to know this too.

I have the bog standard NON mp3 radio/cd player unit.

I was looking for the same thing and came across these

Cable 1

Cable 2

I haven't actually purchased or tried either, but I think they would do the job. Anyone like to confirm whether I am right?

^^ They would work but you wouldn't be able to control the ipod via the car stereo - you would have to make track changes on the ipod itself.  The more expensive ones connect via the ipod docking port and allow charging / control via the stereo.  The VW interface is pretty crap so not that big a loss really.
