There's a lot of controversy about The Pope of course. I've been watching some of the TV docu's but didn't want to post what I think in case it offends anyone here who's RC. It would be an unresolved and endless debate!

I just watched Ch4 News and was struck by how there was some strong undercurrent of disdain from Queenie and The Dooke. However, I shouldn't be surprised because English history has hosted animosity between the Protestant and Catholic faiths for several centuries. It's always been a human power struggle rather than something truly spiritual.

Oh well, better that any religious differences are tolerated by each and every one of us - That's fundamental to most existing religions I know of.

Peace  :grouphug:

I have to admit that I feel a strong hatred due directly to what I've learnt about Catholic malpractices. I once witnessed firsthand something shocking too. However, there are millions of faithful Catholics who strive to be good human beings and also those who need a religious faith to help get them through their tragic life circumstances. I must respect the good people. But I don't approve of those on a mission to convert everyone else. Anyway, I don't want to bore everyone by droning on and on.

Human beings, religion, and politics, eh!  :sad1:

I find it disgusting that the tax payer is footing the shortfall in cost for his visit. At a time when cancer patients are being refused vital drugs and the police are facing spending cuts, lets spend millions on giving the pope a holiday

Everyone has morals they just choose whether or not to use them. Religion isn't about that although they preach about said morals. In the end their own religion is the right one and that will never change and neither will the conflict that arises.

Just been reading a bit about Buddism, and if it wasn't for idiots like Richard Gere they got the right idea about things. IMO
