new vw navigation unit from kenwood
« on: September 17, 2010, 02:51:55 pm »
just been into my dealer and spotted this

http://www.kenwood-electronics.co.uk/car/vw

Navigation units £942 (fitted)
part no.ZGB000035520

Ipod lead (£34)
ZGB000035521

They tell me vw has taken this product on as a genuine part as it contains all the bluetooth etc etc without costing £3k

It looks the biz , I must admit. How much is the OEM VW Nav? The RNS510 i think it is?

My local dealer fitted there first one today and said they have had a lot of interest in the units, certainly not a bad option for a boggo spec car

the system is reasonably priced (for VW), and the connectivity is very good.  It looks ace.  The big downside of this unit is the interface.  when comparing it to the RNS510 which is great, this is just awkward to use.  but then its around half the price of the RNS510 new, and connects to more things .  i guess its horses for courses really.

Their prices look ok , £600 to supply and fit a RNS 510 - surely these wont be genuine at this price?
