just slambed on the brakes and the hazard lights came on for a few seconds dident know the car had such a thing never seen that in a car before i thought i had broken something :signLOL: :surprised:

  yep my wife will agree with that  its ok when she drives all week but when im home at wekend she goes mental and thats me putting the odd twenty pound in  :signLOL:  she was driving the other nite and i told her to floor it but the turbo hadent even kicked in before she slowed down atleast one of us drives sensible

the hazard lights should come on when preforming an emergency stop, all Mk5's have this, most vw's from this era onwards have it too.

the headlights are a different system that turn on when the car reaches about 92mph (think it 150kmh) if you have them set to auto.  they will also turn on if the wipers are on and when its dark obviously.

Dont think it has to be dark for the lights to come when the wipers are on.  Its senses poor visability (no matter what the light is) then turns them on.

Also the auto lights coming on is over 140kmph for a certain amount of time - then you have the be under another speed for I think its 1 or 2mins before they switch off again - 40mph or something like that.

Good feature, especially with xenon's - people notice them more and move out the way  :laugh:

The manual for mine mentions that in the wet it will routinely slightly apply the brakes to keep the disks dry for improved braking - Clever or what!!   :driver:

I originally read that in the SEAT Leon (mk2) marketing material, never spotted it mentioned about the Golf
