Does look rather smart!

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Nope, just has the Black optics package. Would of loved the piano black roof though.

Ahh, I had Black Optics on my last one but this time around it made sense to go with the BE as it offers better value.

The roof is a very expensive bit of black trim I can assure you!!  :signLOL:

I toiled over having the roof or not for ages and then went hunting for cars with it to make the comparison.

Black edition wasn't available at the time I dont think. It was purchased used and so many little things are missing; interior light pack (i dont even have map reading lights!) and auto dimming mirrors etc.

I did miss out on a great Ibis SB with buckets and piano black roof, still annoys me to this day!

Gotta say that the Sportback is my favourite of the S3 range.

Will a Sportback RS-S3 with S-tronic come out one day, I wonder?

Mornin' Jules  :happy2:

Yep, I considered the Sportback along with the Mk5 GTI back in 2005 but the GTI, although not the prettiest of cars being a hatchback, had more presence/charisma (for my taste) and a bit more load headroom in the back.

A future test-drive of a RS-S3 would have to involve me stopping off at home to see if my music gear would fit in the back. The RS performance and hopefully sound would be difficult to resist. Yes, I'd love a Cayman S or a TT-RS but need the Golf/Sportback practicality.

My fingers are crossed with yours.

....That doesn't quite sound right, Jules!
