ED30 details
« on: September 18, 2010, 05:24:02 pm »
Hi,
I'm currently looking into buying an ED30 and have been to test drive one, and have noticed some differences between some on the internet and the one I drove.

-The dash does not dispaly which door is open on the DIS just has a generic door open light.
-There are no controls on the steering wheel for the stereo.

Where these optional extras as i asummed all ED30s would come with the same equipment.

Also what things should i look out for on these cars that may go wrong?

Cheers.
Cal

^^^ Both options, the dash is called the highline option and the multi function steering wheel is also an option.

But IIRC the highline did come with the mutli-function steering wheel but was also available on it's own.

Highline would be difficult to retro fit.

MFSW (assuming you have high-line) is a breeze).

What is involved in retro fitting Highline computer (Maxidot) is it just the clocks that need to come out , or is it more involved?

I read that retro MFSW could only be sone if you had DSG

both can be done fairly easily, Search for highline cluster upgrade or install. Will get the info you require.

You can simply install Highline cluster, But will require the likes of VAg K+Can commander 1.4 or newer.
Requires the new cluster to be recoded for your car. You will also need to know the Security Key code(SKC) for new and old cluster.
Then you can swap them out once coded.

As for the MFSW. You can buy the ribbon and buttons. But may require the Steering wheel control module.
The Correct module will be there already if you have DSG generally speaking. But 100% certain if you have the Steering wheel buttons.

Ah cheers was just being wary although a check brings the car up as an ED30 just wanted to make sure.
If I where to retro fit the highline system I'm sure I know someone that can and is willing to do it as he has done key and cluster coding for me before in my s3.

Cheers for the replys
