Evo VIII FQ300
« on: September 19, 2010, 10:23:54 am »
A neighbour's bought one of these. When he bought it, it already had £6k mods on it. Not sure about power but I presume it will trounce all over an ED30? Would anything less than a "Hurdy special" ever beat it?

I can hear the zorst and dump valve as he pootles off down the road at 30mph

But seriously looks very nice.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Lol it's what it was designed for, cross country getting A to B. Rally car for the road. Minimal compromise. You don't buy an Evo to cruise around in. It's mission is to tempt and destroy lol.

Stealth.....you won't have a chance mate so don't bother trying. Hurdy might have given him a good run but then if evo man spent a couple of K's 400bhp is easily available.

My mates evo 6 even standard would completely destroy a stage 1 ed30.

I think it was 280 bhp.

It's not now!

I seriously considered one before ed30 but the wife refused to drive it.

And evo (non standard) is the quickest car to date I have been out in, 700bhp 4wheel drive and a lot of balls haha. You can't say its an all round car like a S3 or gti, you buy one because you want death to come early lol

A mate has an Evo 8 FQ something, and F*** my tall hat, it is quick, savagely quick.  Across country it is so accomplished, doesn't drive it around town.

I agree it is totally focused, but as Mat has pointed out, it was made for one thing, and one thing only.  He has a Diesel pug for shopping!

My wife hated my Impreza until she drove it!

She loves the Golf though and can't get a look in at all.

She only potters about, keeps the mileage down.

Always wanted an evo but the interior and the exterior of the 10 doesnt do it for me.

Some people have said however that their stage 2 plus k04 is quite a bit quicker in a straightline than a 400hp evo once rolling, but now that I have a 4wd car myself I can appreciate how driving is just so much more than just the straightline battle.

Corners etc the ed30 will get left for dead.

Best person to ask is DomT - he had a 600bhp EVO on nitrous, so is in the best position to comment. personally I don't like the EVO in any of it's guises, but appreciate their abilities to shorten any piece of tarmac.
Golf R gone.
