Ed30 2nd service
« on: February 23, 2009, 08:59:25 pm »
Hey all got the car booked in for its second service this Sat at the garage now the car has just hit 13000mls and it 2years old next Tue 3rd march :drinking:!! (still no plaque  :fighting:) What gets changed other than oil, fuel, filters? Sparkplugs??
The car is runing a Carbonio intake with the pipercross filter soon to be swapped with an Itg 1! I've told the garage not to fling it out as its an uprated filter! And as it has been remapped should I go for T+D oil change or Long life Bearing in mind the car does less than 9000mls a year!

Thanks in Advance Toast :happy2:

If you love your baby as much as i know you do then always go for the long life oil but on T+D intervals if you are only getting 9000 miles on the LL service intervals then all you are doing is paying more for your services. T+D on turbo cars is the correct option.  :drinking:

2nd year time and distance is just oil, filter, pollen filter and they recommend brake fluid.

its your second service at 13,000 on LL? I was on LL (until today) and first service was at 14,000 miles! second service today and had oil change (LL shell vx oil), pollen filter, oil filter, air filter and brake fluid change- car is 2 1/2 years old and 23,000 miles
anyone know if theres a fuel filter and when it needs changing on GTI's?  forgot to mention it when picked her up earlier   :signIWS:

Yeah I think it is on LL so far! I thought the spark plugs may of got changed?! Is it worth me getting the plugs done even if they don't do it? With the car being mapped

yup, spark plugs at 40k but IMO better replaced after 20k if you're remapped.

As for fuel filter change, iirc should be done at 40k.
Without traction power is nothing!

I agree - OEM plugs fine just swap more often.

I had mine remapped at 24k miles and 1 year and 3 months old and then had the spark plugs changed at the next (3rd) service 3 months later at 28k miles.   I do T+D and LL oil as recommended by TT  :innocent:  I had it serviced at 11k miles, then 22k and then 28k and will do it every 6-7k miles from now on as its running Stage 2+.  Also had the DSG oil changed at 28k miles when the Quaife LSD was done.
