Congrats Ed30  :drinking:

That's a top result for anyone and no matter how many times you experience it, being offered a job that you applied for is a great feeling, especially when you're out of work.

I hope it all works out and that you're back in a VAG shortly  :happy2:

Thanks everyone  :grouphug:

My degree is in Business Computing which like a lot of people say they chuck degrees at people these days. A few people on my course couldnt even spell and string a sentence together, quite insulting to be honest.

I only wish I knew what I wanted to do a few years back before stacking up these student loans. Im sure im going to like this and really understand that nothing is going to be handed to me. Cant wait to get stuck in and see where it takes me.

On the experience side of things I totally understand that and that is why a lot of people have a nice certificate on the wall but have to work in unrelated jobs.

It would be interesting to know what percentage of people went into a job/career relating to their degree after uni.

^^ That must have made you think that if people with that kind of raw academic ability have the same qualification as you, then how could you stand out when up against them for jobs you've applied for? I can see how that would be frustrating and de-motivating to a degree  :stupid:

Obviously this time fortune shined on you fella as you got the job  :happy2:

I'm only 23 but I've been in the IT industry for over 6 years now. I went straight into employment after my A-Levels and avoided the Uni route, mainly because of the costs. I'm someone who likes to graft and stay plus figures where possible. At the back of my mind I was hoping the business environment experience would pay off and stand me in good stead, which so far, touch wood - it has. I've also done further training and certifications in that time too, but nothing to degree level so you've always got that at least. It's something that no-one can ever take away from you. The experience will come with time (obviously...) but coupled with a degree, that will bolster your growing CV.

As you say, now you're in the door you can liaise closely with the HR team and your line manager so that in time, you can make your intentions to work in the IT area of the business clear so they can ship you across should the opportunity arise

If they can't, at least you're earning money while you continue any kind of job hunt.

Cheers! I have also been offered another job, typical that they all come at once.

Me too, it sounds stupid but I get so frustrated at driving a 1.1. I have been trying to convince myself that I can live with it but im not too sure now. Will see how everything works out as moving out of the parents is first priority before splashing a small fortune on a car.

Nice one mate, I started as a service driver/valeter. Good career to move up the ladder
