Does anybody know whether a GTI will pass emissions with a decat? or will a sports cat be needed to pass the mot?

In my experience the answer is NO. Sports cat most likely.

It never passed with a decat, as I never ran it on the road with one and I wouldn't put my MOT tester in that position.

It may have been in MOT passable range though, but I wouldn't count on yours being the same - too many variables and still illegal.

Sports cats arent that expensive anyway. Im assuming gains between decat and sports would be minimal. Dont fancy getting the car up on axle stands again for a few weeks to change anyways. Especially after the pain in the arse of changing the d.v
