Oddly... the fluid in the reservoir was filthy (as per the picture), but the stuff coming out of the calipers was fairly clean, just slightly darker than fresh OEM and a bit cloudy, looked a bit like olive oil.

I think it was changed 2 years ago when I had the brembos fitted. I did cook the fluid last year though.

I pulled 250ml out of each side of each brembo ( so 500ml per caliper) and about 300ml out of each rear. Probably far to much but at least I know its all fresh now.

I'm sure I've read somewhere that it's about 200ml per calipers on stock calipers so that's actually about right for bleeding. I pulled about the same amount through when I did mine, wanted to make sure I had absolutely no left over old fluid.

Cool. Looks like I did about right then. I plan to change the rear calipers soon anyway so might end up having to re-bleed them anyway.

The rear bleed screws are a complete twat to get too. Why make them so awkward?

Good shout about the clutch! Also, do you still bleed the MC on these cars like older ones?

Never bother bleeding MC unless it's a replacement.

Ah but the beater is minus TLC Dazza so that colour is perfect for the neglected chart!

Booked my car in for some paint in august.

I noticed that one of my wings is f*cked... the paint has completely popped off.

So its in for both wings respraying and rolling and a dent in the rear quarter sorted out where some kind **** threw a stone at my car. Also a full machine polish to get it looking a little younger than its 9 years.

In other news.... very very quickly approaching 100,000 miles

Not sure if modern VW engines are the same, but I'm pretty sure the official line from VW regarding the old 1.8 8v and 16v engines was that the bottom end wasn't fully worn in till about 80,000 miles, but if it does apply then it means your engine has only just begun using it's full potential. :happy2:

I admire your positive outlook.

Think I'll have replaced the lot by 100k at this rate, bar the head and block.
