JKM's plots have always read conservatively and I applaud them for that.  They're a good outfit.   Would be 350 on R-Tech's

No wonder ED30's feel so sluggish off the line.... 70hp at 2000rpm to move 1340kg

Yeah let us know what the CO readings are on your MOT with the BCS cat!

Passed this morning with no advisories, which was a relief after all the f*cking about its required. :jumping:

CO readings were 0.05% fast idle.... and 0.01% on idle....... more pollution in a vegans fart.  :signLOL:

Last year when it failed... then passed they were 0.20% FI and 0.30% I, so basically 0.01% more of either it it would fail.

Good stuff, finally an aftermarket cat that's any good!

Yeah 0.2% is the limit for a pass.  OEM cats measure 0.001% usually, so the BCS one is a good un!

Good to see the BCS cat doing well.

@Pudding our cars with fluids should weight around 1450 kg. Only the mk7 GTI weights around 1340 kg. 🙈

Brand new cat so there would have been something very wrong if it had failed again :-)

Really?  I'm sure I read in my UK handbook the 'unladen' weight (for a manual) is around 1340Kg.  I'll have to have another look!

@Shoduchi  https://fastestlaps.com/models/vw-golf-gti   That's probably on the light side but I still don't think a MK5 GTI weighs 1450kg!  VW's quoted weights are with fluids, equivalent ballast for one passenger and half a tank of fuel.

I’ve had mine on wheel balancing scales. With my setup and around 3/4 of a tank it weighted 1511 kg. So around 1450 kg of car and fluids (taking my weight out).

http://www.zeperfs.com/en/fiche1561-vw-golf-v-gti-30-pirelli.htm

It states 1451 kg (EU rating). Mine is DSG, so it's a bit heavier than manual versions.

Finally got around to fitting all this stuff.... new pads/discs, bearings and dust shields.

She is a bit rusty under the covers.... but not too bad for 13 years old.

That bolt was a bitch to tighten up..... 180nm and 1/2 a turn

Next up is its 140,000mile service.

@rich83 any thoughts of selling? Or will you be running this one into the ground?

Yeah... I did think about getting a Tesla Model 3... but then all this sh*t happened so that is out of the question for now.

Its staying for the moment... but I will get rid of it in the next few years I think.

Rich, great to see one of the old members still running there ED30, I remember your initial post of getting the car, sub 20k on the clock then?  I’ve had mine 8.5 years, now 114k, similar to yourself slight leak from a rocker gasket, but all good.

You have any corrosion issues?

Hey Frodo...

Front wings went. But aside that, it's fine. Since redoing the rocket gasket covers and rear PCV pipes its been perfect, no leaks at all.

Yeah got it with 13,000 on the clock. Seems like a long time ago, which i guess it was... 10 years in September. It's been a brilliant car to be honest, I cant really fault it at all. It still drives great.

It should have been in for its MOT a week or so ago, but its been extended to November I think.
