No - I wasn't aware there were seals there  - I just bolted it onto the Chineseum intercooler...

But it hasn't been recharged, last time I checked at my prefered garage, I was expecting to pay a fixed £60 charge for AC service - I hope the guy was confused - after explaining it was fully depleted, he quoted me over a ton for full refill with the fixed price service on top - so may need to wait for a month with better cashflow.

Not wishing to encourage "while you are in there" syndrome, but my rad wasn't in the best condition.

I had my new condenser spray painted matt black before fitting. I hate the silver seen through the centre grill. I can still see a bit of the do88 IC over the condenser. It's enough silver...

This did cross my mind. I presume just a Matt black high temp spray would do it?

Yes I did it on my mk3 GTI once… it didn’t peal off

Wow, that’s taken a beating.    I can see the fins on mine are all smashed in but as far as I can see there are no gaping holes in it

Of course... and I am almost certain this is why when its really hot (like it was last year) my water temp creeps up in stationary traffic with the a/c on.

Well that wasn't such a hard job. Awkward getting to a few bolts and had to tap the holes for the actual handle because they were just drilled.

Well that was a bit of an arse of a job. Not overly complicated just time consuming.

The nissens condenser is at best an "OK" fit. It required a fair bit of manipulation to get the lower bracket to match up correctly.
