Decided to go for a drive. Lovely night for it, crystal clear sky and amazing sunsets.

Hop you enjoy those...

My brakes dont seem to be as good as I remember... not sure why that is. Fluid was changed last week so it cant be that.

Good as we've now always come to expect, Rich.

You should email that Aston showroom interior pic to them and ask if they'd like you to take some more (for money so you can then afford some big brakes). It has great atmosphere.

The fact is that OEM GTI brakes are good but not great and you sound as if you've been driving more enthusiastically or perhaps are fresher to the car. Nowadays (this year) I often don't drive for 2 or 3 weeks and then notice things afresh when I do - Nothing I'm not happy with though. I accept that I can't keep up with Stage2 Ed30's! But I can stop better, as Saint Steve knows almost to his/our cost.

It could be the fluid. Was it bled properly with a pressure bleeder?

Thats a very true, Robin. We were away camping for 5 days over a very long weekend last week and we took the Mrs' GT Sport (it has the same brakes as the GTI's have), driving over twisty roads over the moors. When we got back and I got in my car I nearly went through the window when I stood on the brakes  :signLOL:

Thanks guys.

Like Hedge says robin, I am on R32 front brakes which I know are not the last word when it comes to brakes. The fluid has been changed by VW last week, I presume the did it right . I think i must just be used to them. Im definitely going to get some 'other than OEM' pads when these are shot.

Im really happy with how the car handles even though Ive done very little to it. Much better than what is was when I bought it, although lowering it a touch would improve body roll. The steering still bugs me tho, it just doesnt feel quick enough, like the rack is too long... it just lacks 'immediacy'.

....Anti Roll Bars might be a better option.

Sorry, I didn't know you had R32 front brakes.

SHould have bought that front one from you..... damn it!

Yep... got a rear ARB, and its on medium. It does feel very balanced in the corners (neither under/over steery)
