VW might not even make the 'OEM' glass. It's probably out-sourced and then they stick the VW badge on. Like Audi do with Pilkington, except it says Pilkington on it.

When my previous car, an Impreza STi required a replacement screen, I told the replacing company that it MUST supply & fit OEM only. As I said to them, 'the original screen was Subaru, so you put the same back in.' And to their credit, that's exactly what they did.

Always insist on replacing like for like.

Be warned...turns out my screen was replaced prior to me purchasing the car and whoever fitted it damaged the rain sensor by fitting it incorrectly...initially VW said they wouldn't cover the sensor under warranty as it had be incorrectly fitted and I had a whole heap of hassle with the delearship to get them to pay, eventually they gave in...but not without a fight...
