I must admit i would stick with a standard Cupra and tweak it rather than pay a premium for the Cupra R.
If i really really wanted something with an R badge it would probably be a rocco R over the exhorbitant Golf

I was looking cupras two weeks ago, and the interior was just not for me the big grey slab of plastic in the centre ruins the car for me the rest was ok though although I felt that doors and rear door opening handle felt a bit flimsy and the a pillars were massive ! I'm going to hang on to the golf tbh there is nothing out there that floats my boat at the moment apart from the 335i and focus rs, but I reccon the a year down the line will see a fair drop in the price of those so time to get the gti in the 13 second catagory !
MK5 EDITION 30 - CW - REVO S2+ - GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN

I know what you mean the A pillars are massive and you have to take a good look when trying to see round them, never noticed it so much in my previous mkv. The RNS 510 fairly improves the dash in the cupra although it was a bloody expensive extra!
The interior plastics are maybe not as tactile as the other vw group offerings but are just as robust as those in my old mkv gti, i don't notice them when driving funnily enough
