Dell lap tops
« on: September 28, 2010, 03:29:00 am »
I bought the Dell lap top because they had a good reputation and after sales care. After  11 months the charger would only work if the wire was bent around on its self and also the hinge on the right hand side had come away..Phoned up dell to get it sorted, the customer service guy  kept on telling me because it was near the end of the warranty i will have to take an extended warranty out so they could fix it.I told them i wasn't going to do that because as far as i was concerned it was under warranty by them and i want it sorting for  free..so after many many phone calls i got to spoke to thier manager who promised a engineer will be at my address to fix the issues with the lap top..Sure enough 9am he was at the door and all fixed by 10am..so i was a happy chappy....
So a last month the lid on the lap top  was getting stiff to open and getting worse, any way tonight the lid broke of the hinge so i had to take the bloody lap top apart so i could take the hinge out so now my lap top has one hinge and looks like it has been kicked around the room...Iwill never buy anough Dell lap top

SORRY FOR THE RANT

I bought a dell a while ago and it did have some issues but they were all fixed onsite and promptly.

Two family members have both had dell laptops. One was around three years old when it had a problem with the charger socket on the laptop. Well out of warranty so it got chucked. The other one is around eighteen months old and still going strong.

By contrast my Acer laptop is 6-7 years old. It needed a new motherboard after about three months of ownership but has been fine since.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

TBH I work with hundreds of Dell systems at work - both desktops and laptops - and they have been very reliable.

They're so common, you should easily get some spares of ebay.

Mac FTW though.
Sideways yo!

Macbook Pro's are more expensive, but the build quality is on another level!
