If I ever get a job I'm gonna save some pennies and get a set of these to go back OEM.

....Funny you should say that, Simon, because I was going to post that these wheels would really suit a Mk5 R32 but be more practical for cleaning than the R32's originals.

I think my car would've come with Omanyts anyway, just in a slightly different fitment. I still have the Speedlines on at the moment. It'll be a long time coming anyhow, as these cost almost 600 quid each new!

Later generation (up to 2008) Mk5 R32's came with Omanyt's as standard. The 'Zolder' style alloys were on early Mk5 R32's. However both R32 wheels are 18x7.5" ET 51. R36 alloys, mine  , are size for size with BBS VZ033's so are a perfect fit.

I managed to pick up 3 for £75 with minimal whiteworm. I thought it was almost a lost cause finding a fourth so phoned Western VW for a price on one wheel, £578!!  

I then had a brainwave and went to eBay.de. Plenty R36 wheels on there at the time and I paid €150ish to have one totally mint wheel delivered to my doorstep.

^ Back in the early days I nearly swopped my GTI for this. But in spite of that glorious V6 sound, a back-to-back 40-mile lap road test demonstrated to me that I preferred the driving feel of my GTI.

Doesn't look too low altho my car in on Eibach Pro Springs. I don't mind tho as I can put 5 folks + luggage for a week in it an have no trouble scrubbing arches or catching speed bumps. Usability over looks. :cool:

Yes there should. And I have the 4 original covers sitting in a drak corner under my bed sumwhere. However they are OEM silver in finish where as my wheels are powder-coated Shadow Chrome. The paint shop couldn't do a paint to much so I didn't bother getting them gone. The spigot holes accept genuine VW Badges so I thought why not. Makes my wheels more unique.

The SLT's are such an underrated OEM+ wheel on the MK5 

I paid pennies short of a grand for mine without tyres, how did you scamper a better price?!

I was referring to the R36 wheels being almost £600 each! Think I paid about a grand for the 4 Turinis, too.

Couple of mine, genuine BBS RC's 5 x 112, 18 x 8.5, running 225/40 falkens. Not sure of the offset as they had a small skim to make them fit better. Originally were bright silver but had a couple of refurbs in dark anthracite and now gloss black

Got these fitted a couple of days ago,getting lowered in the next week or so! I think around a 25mm to 30mm drop should do the trick?
