Anyone running 17s other than OEM wheels? Interested to see what some more aggressive offset and wider 17s look like but most people seem to go for 18s when upgrading. Like the look of stretched tyre on 18s but also like the look of a meaty tyre on a 17 as it looks a bit different to the rest

interestingly enough jaffa your car was one I saw that made me wanna see more 17s as yours looked good  :happy2:
i like the idea of cheaper tyres and more forgiving ride compared to 18s but fear it may only look real good with more aggressive suspension, wide rim and offset. way too many speed bumps in my area to be able to slam mine

Appreciate the compliment mate, they are actually my first set of 17" wheels as all my other sets are 18" and I fancied a change
Even at the height I run at I can feel a difference in the ride compared to 18"
I couldn't comment on how it is to live with as a daily driver tho as I only use the car once or twice a week and I already avoid the speedbumps round my way like the plague!

Recently fitted a set of Skoda Octavia VRS 18's on my tdi. Coilovers are coming along with some new rubber. Thinking of going for some GY eagle F1's.

Can anyone tell me if these are genuine wheels or aftermarket? I haven't seen them on many other mk5's?

They're Speedline Omanyts 18''. They came from factory with late R32 and R-line packs. I have the 17'' version on my GT Sport R-Line. Of course you can also get replicas of them.

Ok thanks for the info, sadly I think they might be reps as I couldn't find a VW stamp on them with a quick look. They weigh as much as a small island too!

Yeah, OEM wheels have VW stamp, part number and specifications on the inner side. Mine (17'') weight 12 kg each. Monza II's weight 12,8 kg, for example.

Hey guys I picked up a set of BBS CH-R's last week - 18 x 8J.
Got them refurbed and back yesterday as they were in dire condition and got some new rubber too.
They came off an Audi so I've got no centre caps ATM and cant seem to find any BBS caps that are 68mm at the lip and 63 inner?? Or shall i go for VW caps off eBay?? :sad1:

I've done it. I think it's better to do it.
