This car is getting better and better. Can I ask where you got your boost tap/stop end from?

Thanks  :happy2:

It's a forge part.  Not listed on their website, but it comes with the catch tank and you can get it separately if you ask.

Ive been wanting to make up a solid bush to replace the smaller dog bone rubber bush for ages now.  The standard one splits really easily and the powerflex seems a compromise.  With a solid one not available I thought why not.  Its not fitted yet so testing will start on monday.  If im happy with it then I (personally) will make a batch of ten to sell (who is up for a group buy maybe) :happy2:  The bush is made of aircraft grade alloy.

Other than that, the brackets, hoses and bolts have turned up from DaveB  :xmaspresent:

Sporting the winter wheels and tyres too.  I quite like it.

Looking around 50 quid for the bush.  It just needs the old one pushing out, the hole in the steel plate drilling out to 16mm and then the new one pushing in.  I'm going to see if leaving the bush in the freezer over night shrinks it enough to just fit by hand.  I will do a full guide and I can offer an exchange service too.

I've had a fairly busy day today.  As the misses was at work and the nipped at nursery I thought it would be a good idea to do some work on the car.  I had planned to do:

Clutch slave cylinder
Fit TT hubs
New track rod ends
Fit rear wiper blank
New plugs
Alignment
Finish fitting oil temp gauge
Make a battery tray and fit oddessy 40

The clutch has never been right and for the last 6 months or so its been doing all sorts of odd stuff.  I changed the master but this made no difference.  Pissed me off loads last week so it was time to take box out and change the slave.

I also remembered there was a restrictor in the bleeding housing so I took that out too.  Clutch feels ok so far and its much smoother.  Hopefully its the end of my problems.

New BKR8EIX's gapped down fitted.

Next up was the TT hubs.  Old ones came off fine.  New ones took an age to get on.  The standard rod ends don't fit the hubs and neither do the S3 ends (S3 and the standard rods are the same but strangely cheaper!).  The only real way to fit the TT hubs is with the TT tie arms and rod ends, or as I pissed around doing, make it work as I want them on and I want to go home tonight!  Made some inserts until I can make up some rose jointed ends or fork out for the TT bits.  The hubs are soooo much better than the S3 and standard hubs.  Lower ball joint mounts drop the angle of the lower arms and they have a lower rod end point making the tie arms flat.  This helps with bump steer.

This show the lower mounting points:

And fitted with new temp rod ends anyway

At the moment I can only get -1.75 degs neg camber at the front as the tie arms run out of threads to get the toe correct.  There is more camber available on the wishbones, but to do so would comprise safety.

Out on the road the difference is noticeable straight away.  Sharper turn up, less bump steer, less dipping under braking and the car runs flatter in the corners.  They get my vote, just need to sort the rod ends and arms to make sure they will work to their full potential.

And I got the wiper blank fitted too and started to make the new battery tray.  This will get rid of the plastic one.  Then I was told to get home!

Ta Mike  :drinking:

Deffo worth gapping the plugs down.  From .80 to .64 should do the trick.

Great work Alex, looking forward to a partlist and DIY on the TT hubs, as they seems to be a step better than the S3 hubs i have currently fitted. Happy New year to you also.
BTW have you had a chance of getting the Top mount Mod made??

Over the top mod list ;o)

Also the steely eyed ones amongst you will see that the TT hubs also have the same thickness caliper mont lugs as the ironnhubbed gti so technically all GTI BBKs fit..... cant be said for S3 hubs

I was pleased about this as it makes upgrades much easier.  People with buy brake kits on GTi's can easily upgrade to the TT hubs. Well easy ish anyway.  Would need to check disc to ball joint clearance too or have you already looked at this Dave?

It's actually ok as long as you're not too ambitious with the disc assembly total height, I do a fully floating in the bell Alex BDM special setup for the TTRS that brings the OD down from 370 to 362mm can't remember without looking at the drawing but I think the height is 54mm on a 32mm wide rotor and that's close enough.... AP go closer on the cup kit.

That assembly also is bolt onto an S3 as it mounts on the front of the lugs of the S3 al la GTI/R32.

Glad you're pioneering this Alex, I think they're lighter still than S3 hubs. Is there any geo benefit over say S3 hubs with TT bottom arms?
