Im fairly new with all this tech stuff whats the hybrid thing all about i need to swat up on all of this  ????

It takes a while and lots of people know a lot more than me, but, its all about taking a standard KO4 (or any other turbo) and modifying it with different parts from different turbos and modifying the standard turbo parts to create the 'hybrid'.

Not sure how the KO4 is modded but usually it will be things like bigger compressor housings etc etc.

All turbos will run out of 'puff' at some point where it can't physically produce enough air from the amount of exhaust gas supplied (? I know what I mean but somebody can explain better). Andy Forrests Subaru website explains all this a damn site better than I can.

I think the ED30 KO4 runs out at 350ish BHP not sure what the PSI is?

The other option is something like an APR stage 3 with a Garrett GT2871R which needs a new exhaust manifold.

Whereas, I am now guessing, the hybrid KO4 can use the standard one?

Anybody like to ellaborate and correct me as I sure I am wrong in some places.

Update....

There has been a Revo stage 2+ car on Stattlers rollers too now.....with the normal K04. This was checked out as healthy and with no running issues like pressure leaks etc. It made 327bhp and 320lbft on their rollers. That would be an increase of 70+bhp and 60+lbft for the Hybrid :happy2:
Golf R gone.

So their rollers are up and running at last then John?  :pomppomp: Have to say that 327bhp sounds a bit low for a Stage 2+ car and I thought you said Steve's car ran 400bhp on the same rollers as you went on (ie Nobbles?)
Steve's car is quick for sure, but it was no way 70bhp quicker than mine (or any Stage 2+ DSG KO4 for that matter) at Inters. Especially as mine must of been running a gamillion oC intake temps at the time too  :scared:)
Your first post sounds about bang on though, around 30bhp gain. That for me makes it well worth while..

That 30bhp is gonna cost circa £2k over S2+ though. I personally don't think its worth that. In addition, if you come to sell the car, stripping it back to get some of your money back from the mods wont happen as the car probably wont run well with a hybrid turbo and code without all the other mods.

If you want to hit 400 bhp I think the hybrid is the best way to do it.

What you don't realise Ben is that Steve was running a pump file at Inters and the pump file ran 372bhp on his rollers. The race file is the one that hits 400+bhp

Their rollers seem to be putting down similar figures to the dyno Dynamics rollers, so 340bhp for a stage 2+ would seem about right and 355 for yours would probably be on the money too Ben. :happy2:

Been down to Statllers again today as Gojinder was down there having a dyno session. After fiddling with the REVO settings he managed a run of 341.6bhp and 320 lbft (revo stage 2+) The settings were altered substantially as he was having huuge boost at first and then nothing up top giving him results of 312bhp. The 341.6bhp was the best result he had, so this makes the Hybrid K04 on the same rollers quite a tasty proposition...... :driver:

Oh and Ben - Steve said that when he went against you at Inters on the pump file he was two up with a full interior, luggage in the boot and the fat guy in the passenger seat was over 16 stone :signLOL:
