Valeo LED rear lights for R32
« on: October 01, 2010, 05:45:39 pm »
Is there a way of converting LED rear lights for the R32? They come with rectangular/square connectors but I'm told the R32 has round connectors? I don't have the car but have sold the lights to someone with one who doesn't know how to make them work.

Any advice / help greatly appreciated  :happy2:

@ Chris:

I didn't realise from your PM that you'd only been told by someone else about R32's having round connectors. I now have doubts they are different unless VW changed plug shape on factory builds.

This Mk5 ordinary Golf has square plugs:

^ You can see that the connector would be easy to change but I dunno how easy the Valeo connector would be to change without seeing it or asking my mate who's converting my LED inner Valeo's.

I'm hoping it's a simple case of swapping the connectors, unless the r32 ones can be bought separately. For yours I expect the connection is the same as a gti so it should work. Have a look at it, boot trim should peel away easily then see what shape the connector is.

Should look like this. Pic is from Red Robin.

I'll try and get a photo from them. It's a 2006 r32 if that makes any difference. Can't think why they'd be different seeing as the only difference I know of is the shade of red

I realise that my connectors will be the same as the gti, but im worried if the connectors on the r32 are different then the connetors on the smoked led tails wont fit.
Im under the impression the smoked led tails were for the r32??

Yeah they are, and the ed30. People have the dark ones on gti's, not aware of any issues with connectors though. Hopefully someone will know!

If you can tell me the year of the R32 I might be able to help.

Both the inner and outer taillight connectors for an 2006 R32 are shown as the same as the GTI ones in ETKA.

If you can get a phone from the owner that would help, also if he can get a part number off the connector housing that would be useful.

....Slowly but surely. I've asked him to try and have it ready for the Santa Pod meet. Either way, I'll keep the 'Skyline' thread updated.  :happy2:
