Sourcing/fitting a covered cup-holder?
« on: February 08, 2009, 02:45:15 pm »
Afternoon all.

My Ed30 only has the basic double 'open' cup holder arrangement. I'd love the version with the 'shuttered' cover and the integrated bottle opener.

So, three questions: is this a simple replacement part; how complicated is it to dismantle the centre console to swap them (has anyone done a write-up?); does anyone know where I can get hold of the covered version (in grey)?

OK... technically four questions!

Thanks.

Thanks, guys.

Shaun... no, I don't have the armrest. Why do you ask? Presumably it just means the job's slightly easier without it?! Or am I missing something?

No reason, just wondered if you wanted that too

also if you do order the cup holder remember to order the bottle opener

I'm not too worried about the armrest, TBH.

Good shout about the bottle-opener, though. Thanks!

The bottle opener's more useful in making sure your bottle/can doesn't fall over than in opening them!

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

lol i removed mine and installed the open cup holder

main reason was because its just useless, dont hold any cups securely, well maybe the 500ml oasis bottle and a large mcdonalds milkshake but thats about it, dunno how they can call it a cupholder? more a storage compartment.

in saying that i didnt have the vw bottle-opener though.
