Hi, another newbie here. Surrey based.

Been lurking and reading for sometime and have already learnt a lot. I came across the site through UKMKIV's where I've been registered for sometime. You seem like a friendly bunch so I thought it was time to say hi.

I've yet to actually purchase a GTi - still trying to convince my fiancee that it's a good idea. Hopefully in the not too distant future though. I like to do my homework on a new car, making sure I know what's what before going ahead and taking the plunge and here seems a great resource for information on the car. With a wedding on the horizon, and a new house, it's going to have to be an early-ish example, but it seems that GTi's are going for really good money now so I'm hoping for a reasonable compromise between age and price. I found the perfect car on Autotrader the other day, but not quite in the position to buy at this moment in time - isn't it always the way?

Will be sure to post as and when the car arrives, but for now I'm more likely to continuing lurking and post the odd question here and there. There are some great cars here, with a couple of you guys proving to be a real inspiration for the route I want to take. Robin in particular, I share you passion for getting it right with the best possible parts and the best people for the job. I've a feeling I might be visiting VWR on more than one occasion.

Anyways, that's me. Now to get my hands on a GTi... 3dr DSG to be exact, ideally with Xenons and a MFSW.

you sound like you'll end up with an all singing all dancing GTI!

probably an edition 30 if you stay on here long enough. it will only take a few days to convince yourself it would be stupid not to have a 300bhp+ edition 30 gti! ;)
