MK5GolfGTI Forum Meet @ Santa Pod - Southern Convoy
« on: October 08, 2010, 09:35:06 am »
Ok chaps, lets get a convoy going. Any ideas on a suitable meeting place?

I'd imagine that most of us will be going up the M1, possibly from the M25?

We could do Fleet services on the M3, but it would be a longgggggggg convoy!

Alternatively, we could meet somewhere along the M1, maybe that's better.

Opinions/thought etc.....  :happy2:

Are we also meeting people at the Tesco in Wellingborough to do the short few miles to the Pod?

Fleet services is ok but you would have to drive to Hook to either get on or turn round. I normally meet people at Guillemont Park, which used to be Sun and is now Oracle, just off Junc 4a.

You could do Tesco's at the Meadows.  :popcornsoda:

Tescos at the Meadows better than Fleet :P Fleet would be a long journey in the wrong direction surely?

Yes very much so, but i was just thinking as it's on the actual motorway then it would be easy to find/get to. I think maybe it's better to meet somewhere further up the M25?

Depends how we're all gonna reach the M25. The fastest route for me (and you and possibly Dom I think) is straight down the A30. In which case meet at the BP near Egham roundabout?

.
I'm much further SouthWest and so I'd be avoiding the M25-M1 route and be coming via the A34 and only a small stretch of the M1. So best not to include me in any southern convoy. Plus I won't make a final decision if I'm coming until the last moment - I'm now supposed to be back and ready for a gig in the evening and it's a 4-hour drive.

Just before the Ferrari garage on the Egham Bypass, but just down past Royal Holloway, that's right.

i should be in on this, but i dont think the A30 is the quickest route to the M25, its quicker to go M3 as you can just fly along A30 is hassle with traffic camaras ect... obv where everyone meets has to be pretty central for everyone attending is there no where near the A322/M3 junction to meet??

I'm easy (oh yeah baby) but there's only one camera on the A30 (at the Sunningdale train station) and if we're headed to the M1 the A30 is two junctions closer (take the M3 to get onto the M25 you need to go by Chertsey and Staines to get to where the A30 joins). Just my experience anyway, tbh ten minutes here or there doesn't make any difference!

A322/M3... mmn, BP at Bagshot is a pretty close meeting point, but a bit out of the way for Chris I think.

A few of us that are near the dartford bridge/blackwall tunnel area are gonna start a convoy from around there. 4 cars so far, if anyone wants to join us.
