Car needed topping up with coolant a couple of times these past two weeks. Put it down to colder weather and seat heaters being on etc. I went out today and the coolant warning came on again... opened the bonnet and the reservoir was completely empty (usually was a bit below the lower level marking).
Topped it up a bit and pulled the car back in the drive and noticed a big puddle of coolant under the car; gasket's failed somewhere or a hose has come loose or something. Booked into VW for Tuesday... hopefully all will be sorted in time for the JKM meet!
