Changing the BCM
« on: October 31, 2010, 08:39:39 am »
Hi guys,

I'm looking into retrofitting fog lights into my car.

I've found the kufatec wiring and will have to get a light switch/fogs/grilles

But the Kufatec wiring requires a highline BCM (body control module)

Does anybody know how expensive this will be if i were to get one from vw/breakers...

And would i need to re-code the car once it has been replaced or would i be opening a whole bag of worms?!!

Hi
This depends on which MY your car is
BCM refers to the newer types of controller which manages the electrical and comfort options in the car from around 2009
before the 2009 there were 2 controllers CECM and CCM.
The best thing you can do is find out what you have fitted now and work from there. have your car scanned with VAG-com and that will tell you what you have

Hazzard flash under heavy braking
if you don't have the car set to autolock, then the tailgate only can be enabled to lock at 15mph

Oh yeah I knew about the hazzards under braking.

Not that much then, I think Ill save the £120-130 quid and put it towards an RNS!

I would of had one for £60 though!

Cheers Ed.

Cheers for the links Ed,

Their the ones on ebayde I saw, they work out about £120 £130 not worth that for cornering fogs IMO!

Im not too bothered about having one but if I see one for a bargain Ill get it!

Handy link to the recycling place though, I usually use retek but even their a bit steep sometimes.

What happened to the dirty breakers yards where you could strip the parts yourself and grab a bargain??

The cornering ligh feature is nice, but your right that you should put that money towards an RNS510 with voice control
