How many MK5 owners

Have upgraded from a lesser MK of golf and how many have just joined Golf ownership with a MK5....

Having now owned a few marks of GTI, the MK5 has tobe the best handling one straight out of the box  .

What do people think?

The only other Golf I've owned was around 6 years ago, the MK3 2.8 VR6 in Dragon Green, loved it !

had a few  mk1 gti with a 1.816v on twin 40 carbs 160bhp  .mk2 16v all stock,mk4 gti,mk4 r32,cupra r 225 same chassis as a golf  and the mk5 chassis is ok stock but with some good choice mods its better

Interesting the MK4 and the Leon are basicaly the same but in stock form that Golf is not in the same ball park as the leon 225

What choice mods would you recomend for the MK5 then??

PS i currently drive a MK3 VR2.9 with all the mods to make it handle as a summer daily and a have a MK2 Sprint hill climb 1.8 16v on twin 40's

A good set of coilovers and uprated arbs make a massive change to the chassis but don't get me wrong the chassis is very good stock just a some choice mods help big time and walk kit too

Had a mk4 1.8T before moving on to the mk5.  Chalk and cheese in most respects, mostly in a good way (engine and handling) but I think they took a step backwards with build quality and attention to detail.  Reliability (touch wood) is better though.

I had a polo 6n2, wicked car till Mr Mohammed slammed into the back of it!

Last car was a mk5 tdi sport... Great car, so reliable!

Started my driving life with a Mk1 Golf GTi in Lhasa Green, sold that to get a VW Polo G40, sold that to get another Mk1 Golf but with a G60 lump, that eventually went to get an Audi S2 Coupe, after that another Mk2 Golf GTi, then Mk5 GT TDi company car then B5 Audi RS4 and now the Golf GTi :)

Ive had around 15x Mk2s (from 8v to 16v to VR6), 3x Mk1s (from 8v to ABF 2.0 16v), 1x Mk3 VR6 and then a Mk5 GTI DSG. As well as other VAG cars, like Mk2/Mk4 Ibizas.

Now driving a Clio 200 though, but still love my VAG cars. Will be back in one at some stage.

i've had a mk2 1.3CL as my first car, a VW Beetle with new 1641cc engine and a leon cupra R , now got a mk5 GTi, had a few other cars in between tho
